Stop Letting Doubt Hold You Hostage

Hey There:)

A COUPLE OF THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Self-doubt acts like a toxic friend who crashes every party, whispering nonsense and trying to convince you that you’re not enough. Every person who has ever done something worthwhile has wrestled with doubt. What sets them apart is they do not let it run the show. When that voice tries to drag you down, it is on you to decide that playing small is not an option.

Take a Minute: Think back to a recent moment when you held back or second-guessed yourself. What if you had ignored that nagging voice and just went for it? What would be different today? The only way out of doubt’s grip is to take action, even if it is not perfect.

A COUPLE QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

What opportunities have you let slide because you did not feel “ready” or “good enough”? How many times have you talked yourself out of trying something new because of that voice in your head? What if, just for this week, you decided to go for the thing you have been avoiding despite the doubt?

From Me to You: These are not just questions for reflection; they are an invitation to confront self-sabotage head-on. Write them out, chew on them, and then take a bold step forward.

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK

Doubt is part of the process, but it does not get to dictate your moves. This week, choose one thing you have been scared to try and go for it. It does not need to be perfect; it just needs to happen. Whether it is applying for a job, signing up for a course, or speaking up in a situation you have been silent on, it is time to act.

Heads Up: Staying comfortable is where dreams go to die. Challenging doubt, even in small ways, sends a message that you are in control. Try it out, and share your wins—big or small—I am here for them.

WHAT’S NEW AROUND HERE

Breaking Free from Perfectionism: Perfectionism is not about being perfect; it is about being scared to fail. I am digging into why that mindset holds you back and how shifting from perfection to growth can change everything. Making mistakes is part of progress, and this week we are learning to embrace them, and I will be adding a few new articles to the website under Empowerment and Decision Making.

Coming Soon: The Empowerment Toolkit – I’m still working on a no-nonsense guide to help you identify where you’re feeling stuck and how to get unstuck, fast. Think of it as your personal cheat sheet for taking back control.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Last week, we broke down why clarity is key when you are feeling stuck. If you did not catch it, you can find it here.

WORDS FROM THE CROWD

Last week’s focus was all about stopping the wait for the “right time” and taking action, even if it’s just a small step. Here’s how some of you tackled that challenge:

For “Anonymous”, sending a long-overdue message finally kicked things into gear:

Summary:

“I’ve had this email sitting in my drafts for weeks. I kept second-guessing whether I should even send it or wait for a better time. I got tired of overthinking and just hit send. Next thing I know, they replied saying they’d been meaning to get in touch with me too. We’re now working together on something that never would’ve happened if I kept sitting on it.”

This shows that waiting around for the perfect moment is just a waste of time. Sometimes you just need to hit send and see what happens.

Another reader who again wishes to stay Anonymous, shared how getting started finally brought the clarity he or she been searching for:

Summary:

“I kept dragging my feet on signing up for this course because I convinced myself I needed to research more, plan more, or whatever excuse I could come up with. I finally just did it. Turns out, it’s exactly what I needed. All that waiting was just me avoiding the work.”

This persons experience is a good reminder that action often leads to clarity, not the other way around. Overthinking and endless planning can just be ways of putting off what you need to do.

A Quick Note: I love hearing your stories, so keep them coming. Whether it’s a small win or a major breakthrough, I want to celebrate it with you. Just hit reply to share your moment—anonymously or not, your call.

LET’S DO THIS AGAIN NEXT WEEK

Doubt will always show up, but it is how you act despite it that matters. Let’s keep pushing forward, one decision at a time.

Stay strong,
